Zip Line Canopy Tour
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to fly like Superman? Or what it’s like to soar with the eagles from treetop to treetop? Come to Summerland Camps this summer and find out!
Zip lining is an awesome, exhilarating experience. There is nothing like it in the world! We utilize French Broad Adventures for our zip line activities, located a close 12 miles from camp. Choose just one or all ten of the zip lines offered, and because the zip lines use hand breaks, go at the speed you are most comfortable.

The views at our zip lining adventure are stunning and your memories will be unforgettable. There is no better way to see the beauty of the mountains and really push your limits. The zip line adventure course we use has 10 lines ranging in length from 75 to 1,000 feet long – totaling over one mile of cable!
We start by learning all about zip lining safety. Qualified staff walks us through a safety presentation where we can ensure we have a safe and fun day. Then, we all load up in a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) and head up the mountain for our treetop canopy tour!

Zip Lining Facts
We go zip lining on a regular basis at Summerland Camps, but it is weather permitting. Therefore if you are registered for a shorter, 2-week session you may or may not get an opportunity to go. We will make every effort to ensure every camper has the opportunity to zip line.
The minimum age to zipline is 10, and you must weigh between 70 and 250 pounds. All campers must have their parents sign a waiver which is completed during camp registration.
Campers will be required to wear sturdy shoes (no sandals) and appropriate clothing. It is recommended that long hair is tied back and that campers wear longer shorts or jeans. A full body harness is worn during the zip line experience.
But I’m Afraid of Heights!
Rest assured you will have an awesome day zip lining with your new friends at camp. Whether you are helping your new friend overcome their fears, or if you need encouragement yourself- you can relax knowing that our intent is to have a blast. If you don’t feel comfortable doing the longer lines, then take a break and try a short starter zip line first. Or, if you decide it’s not for you, use the day to encourage and support the group.
If you are just plain afraid of heights and don’t even want to be encouraged, that’s fine too- just let your counselor know and we will find a job or task for you that day where you can still be part of the group and play a supportive role. Zip lining is not for everyone, and if it’s not for you that’s okay, we will help you find your thing!
Like all activities at Summerland Camps, safety is our top priority. Our zip line course and operational procedures are regularly inspected and reviewed by Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) professionals, which is the world’s leading and largest American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer focused specifically and solely on the challenge course industry. ACCT-certified professionals ensure that they meet or exceed the standards set forth by the ACCT. Simply put, we ensure campers use the safest zip line course available.
