Phase I: Technology Detox

Phase I: Technology Detox

The first phase campers go through is what we call a “technology detox.”  We don’t focus on separating from our devices or online activities.  Instead, we focus on having fun!

Making Friends

We seek to quickly build rapport between campers so that they can focus on the here and now- not on what they are missing at home.  The way our team-building activities are structured brings out even the shyest and most reserved camper.  Tribes are in this together- and we all function as a family to achieve our team objectives.

Homesickness

Homesickness is a concern among parents.  We have so much fun at camp that rarely is this an issue.  We also have licensed therapists at camp, so if it does become a problem we have qualified experts to help the child process these issues.  What better way to deal with overcoming homesickness than in a structured supportive environment with a behavior coach (generally an LCSW or mental health therapist).

Having Fun!

Of course, we focus on all the great activities our camp has to offer.  Especially initially, we want our campers to have fun and get involved in the camp process.  We save a lot of the clinical stuff for later.  Initially, we want to see campers making friends, smiling, and having the time of their lives.
