How We Involve Families

Family Support is Critical

Research into this subject is clear: positive outcomes are correlated with greater levels of family support.  We provide comprehensive family workshops to prepare families to best support their camper upon their return home. Parents participate in four, 60 to 90-minute online workshops during the summer. Each workshop covers a different topic.

Parents are informed about their child’s progress through email or phone call updates that occur weekly. Parents receive emails or calls on a regular basis to let them know what progress their camper is making and the topics covered in the group for the prior week.

Parents also receive a copy of the Summerland Guide with a special parent section. This resource educates parents on topics related to technology overuse, parenting strategies, and example behavioral contracts. Information on how the BPJ works and how to best support your camper is also provided.

We also have optional aftercare services available for families after camp is over.  A qualified behavioral coach will check in with your child on a weekly basis to provide support and encouragement via online meetings.
