Physical activity is important at our camp as it not only affects our physical health but also our mental health. Our campers are provided with a pedometer to monitor physical activity. Every morning we have the campers go on a walk with a goal of 10,000 steps or about five miles.
In order for this tool to be effective when the children return home, we hold family workshops to educate the parents on this. We encourage the parents and children to set a daily and weekly step goal to continue this routine when they transition back home.
