Summerland Camps: Primer Summer Camp for Teens with Autism

Finding a summer camp that caters to the unique needs of teens with autism can be challenging. At Summerland Camps, we go beyond the traditional camp experience to create a supportive, structured, and fun environment specifically designed for teens aged 12-21 on the autism spectrum. Here’s why Summerland Camps stand out as the ideal choice:

1. A Focus on Social Growth

Social skills can be challenging for teens with autism, but Summerland Camps offers a nurturing environment to practice and grow these abilities. Through carefully designed group activities, campers learn how to navigate conversations, collaborate with peers, and build meaningful friendships—all under the guidance of experienced staff.

2. Structured Fun in a Screen-Free Setting

Many teens with autism struggle with screen overuse, which can impact their social and emotional well-being. At Summerland Camps, we provide a technology-free experience, encouraging campers to engage with the world around them. Our schedule includes a variety of activities like hiking, arts and crafts, and team sports, offering structure while keeping the experience exciting and enjoyable.

3. Practical Skill-Building

Our program emphasizes developing real-world skills that teens with autism can carry into their daily lives. We focus on:

  • Time management to foster independence.
  • Self-regulation techniques to manage emotions.
  • Goal-setting strategies to build confidence and resilience.

These skills are seamlessly integrated into daily activities, making the learning process organic and empowering.

4. Experienced, Compassionate Staff

Our staff is highly trained in working with teens on the autism spectrum. They create a safe and understanding space where campers can thrive. By providing personalized attention and positive reinforcement, our team ensures every camper feels valued and supported.

5. A Memorable, Growth-Oriented Summer

Summerland Camps isn’t just about skill-building—it’s about creating lasting memories and fostering joy. From campfire nights to outdoor adventures, we combine personal growth with plenty of laughter and fun.
